West Horsley Dairy – Anti-Slavery Policy & ETI Compliance
Modern Slavery Act
Modern slavery is a crime resulting in an abuse of human rights. It is backed up by the Modern Slavery Act 2015 which includes the offences of slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking.
West Horsley Dairy has an annual turnover of less than £36m per year and therefore is not obliged to report annually on its policy and processes to prevent slavery in its supply chain. However West Horsley Dairy feels very strongly about the dreadful crime of modern slavery and wishes to reassure its customers and employees that it takes every step to ensure that no products handled and sold by the company have been produced using forced labour.
West Horsley Dairy is happy that the steps it takes at the point of sourcing and approving food product suppliers is sufficient to ensure that it is not party to the use of slave labour and human trafficking. Annual compliance will be audited with suppliers to ensure confidence that no slavery is taking place in any of its supply chain.
Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI)
West Horsley Dairy recognises and works to ensure the basic code of the Ethical Trading Initiative is adhered to by ourselves and where we have influence with our suppliers. We have conversations with suppliers regarding the 9 points of the code:
- Employment is freely chosen
- The right to collective bargaining
- Safe & hygienic conditions
- No child labour
- Living wages are paid
- Working Hours are not Excessive
- No discrimination
- Regular employment
- No inhumane treatment
