Environmental Policy Statement

The Directors of West Horsley Dairy place Environmental Responsibilities high on the Company agenda. Our success depends on our ability to continually seek to be ethical in our decision making & minimise the impact on the environment from the company’s activities.

We will actively seek to provide management systems which are compliant with all relevant legislation and to ISO140001 standards.

This commitment is in the best interests of our customers and our employees and it is West Horsley Dairy’s management’s duty to provide a leadership role in the communication and implementation of this Policy statement, to deliver targets in the following key areas:

  1. Supplier environmental assessment to ensure all legal and our own environmental standards are maintained
  2. Procurement and Purchasing as locally as possible to ensure that we buy where feasible in this order of priority: Local (50 mile radius from London), British, European or Fair Trade product.
  3. Minimal use of disposable Packaging, ensuring maximum Recycling & Waste Reduction.
  4. Full staff Instruction & Training on all our environmental policies & procedures & best practice.
  5. Efficient delivery planning & routing to minimise empty running and mileage reduction including encouraging customers to order in ways which assist us to meet our environmental targets.
  6. Professional driver training to reduce diesel consumption.
  7. Purchase, maintenance & operation of modern delivery vehicles with the latest energy efficient and technology and wherever possible alternative ‘green’ fuel vehicles.
  8. Office & warehouse energy management to ensure energy & waste reductions wherever possible.

We are committed to the proactive integration of our environmental objectives in all our activities.

West Horsley Dairy will engage all our employees in our Environmental Management System and ensure they understand their own responsibilities in maintaining and improving on our environmental targets.

We will audit our environmental impact as a minimum yearly and amend our policy statement and management system where needed as per our Environmental Process Map.
